GEMCUTTING
CRAFTER INFORMATION
GEM DROPS
Gems drop off humanoid mobs. In general lvl 40 gems drop from lvl 40-49 mobs, lvl 50 gems from lvl 50-59 mobs, etc.
* Tier 1 - level 40-49 - Field of the Dead or Noble District
* Tier 2 - level 50-59 - Eiglophian Mountains
* Tier 3 - level 60-69 - Thunder River, Atzel's Approach
* Tier 4 - level 70-74 - Atzel's Approach, Keshatta
* Tier 5 - level 75-79 - Keshatta
* Tier 6 - level 80+ - Keshatta (listed as lvl 75)
PROFESSION
To start Gem Crafting visit the trainer in Poitain, Purple Lotus Swamp or Lachleich's Plane. He will give you a quest to make three random gems. As at the moment crafting is slightly bug, you need to zone out or relog before every gem you make, to get the update. After a zone/relog, make the gem right away for the cut to count. Make sure you allready have the raw gem and the needed crafting kit in your inventory. Note: You can't craft in combat.
SHAPES, SIZE & SOCKET
Uncut gems will produce good quality gems (green name). These have gem shape 5 and can be put in Size 1 sockets.
Flawless gems will produce superior quality gems (blue name). These have gem shape 10 and can be put in Size 2 sockets.
Simple Conclusion:
Uncut = green name = gem shape 5 = size 1 socket
Flawless = blue name = shape 10 = size 2 sockets
ITEMS
One handed weapons (named class A)
Rhombic gems = uncut = shape 5 = size 1 socket
Trillion gems = flawless = shape 10 = size 2 socket
Two handed weapons (named class B )
Oval gems = uncut = shape 5 = size 1 socket
Teardrop gems = flawless = shape 10 = size 2 socket
Armor (named class C)
Oblique gems = uncut = shape 5 = size 1 socket
Cabochon gems = flawless = shape 10 = size 2 socket
SOCKETING
Note: As crafting is till slightly bugged, this may not work as intended.
* Make sure both the item and the gem are in your inventory ~ NOT equipped
* Select the gem, the items that the gem can be added to will be surrounded with a green border
* Drag and drop the gem onto the selected item.

GEM CRAFTING BUGS
I’ve seen a lot of similar questions being asked over the last few days. So think it might be handy to make a list of currently known Gem Crafting bugs, so people can just check here for a temp solution. Please reply if you know of more bugs (and have solutions) or if a bug has been solved.
QUEST RELATED
Picking up crafting quest
There have been reports of people who had a full quest log when picking up the crafting quest. The ! disappeared above the questgivers head, but they didn’t get the quest and couldn’t get it since.
Solution: make sure you have space in your quest log.
Paying twice to get Quest
Reported issue where u accept the gem crafting quest, but where it is removed after some time. The gemcrafter seems to have forgotten you ever joined and wants another 7 silver ...and again... and again... yet you still have the ability to make gems. Note: questlog was not full at the moment. Solution: any tips?
Finishing Crafting Quest
At the moment, when you want to finish a Gem crafting quest and you make the required item, your quest will not update.
Solution: make sure you have all required items in backpack (gems and crafting kit) log out, log in and make item. If your quest updates, repeat the process. If not, wait a few hours.
SOCKETING RELATED
Problems with socketing
Numerous reports of problems with socketing. Not working at all, needing relogs to work, needing unequip to keep stats when zoning, when socketing multiple gems into a three slot item, only the first gem shows up until you log out and in again, etc, etc.
Socketed gems not showing on item
At the moment when you socket gems in an item, it won’t show on your item. When you drag to trader/chatbox is shows as empty sockets, even though it will show on your stats (just press P). Often need to relog to get the stats tho.
STAT RELATED
Stats being deducted from base stats?!
Had few reports now about stats of a gem not counting, but when the gemmed item gets removed, the stats get deducted from base stats. Example: Player has 5% invulnerability to magic from talents. He sockets legs with a 1.2% all magic invul gem, but it doesnt how on his stats. So he removes legs again and suddenly his invul to magic drops to 3.8%
Stats not showing correctly
Invul gems don't show real stats after zoning or relog, neither do -%evade and taunt gems.
+Spell damage doesn't update on tooltips (at least for HoX spells) although the damage is being added correctly.
Stats of same gems not always add up
For some gems its no problem. But I have two +31 taunt gems socketed (1 in armor/1 in leggings). Only +31 taunt is counted, instead of +62
Solution: Can anyone confirm and does anyone have a solution?
Proc gems don't(always) proc?
As the topic says. Any solutions except changing gear before zoning? Some say it does, some say it doesn't. So certainly some issues here.
REMAINING
Trader / Vendor
At the moment gems don’t show at the trader. You can't sell crafted gems items to Vendors either (intentional). Solution: spam OOC?
Gem Craft book
In your craft book, items you can make show as black, items you can’t make (because you don’t have the proper mats) show as red. This only counts for uncut gems not for flawless.Solution: Need to check your invent for every flawless gem
Inventory
Cut gems don't stack in your inventory. This is prob not a bug but a feature, but would be very much appreciated if stacking would be made possible.
FIXED ISSUES
Retraining features resets profession?
Rumour that if you retrain your features, it will reset your profession and you are not able to get it back. I'm not sure if it's true, but don't dare to test it out. Update:Should only have happened at Tortage and should be fixed now.
Cloak
As of patch of June 23 you can socket cloaks
