Tiered Rifts

We’re actually looking to expand upon Nephalem Rifts in our upcoming 2.1.0 patch, creating what we’re internally calling ”Tiered Rifts.” In a way, Tiered Rifts are similar to an endless dungeon (or ”topless tower,” as Wyatt likes to call it) in that as you complete different tiers of Rifts, you can unlock more tiers. Another goal with Tiered Rifts is to provide a way for players to test and challenge themselves, and also compare their progression against the progress of other players.

Wyatt Cheng: There is another major feature in the patch 2.1, which is going to be what we’re internally calling Tiered Rifts. The idea is a challenge scenario, where players do increasingly hard Rifts, to see who can get the farthest. The way it works is: You do your Bounties and get the tokens, then you do a Nephalem Rift. If you clear it, there’s a chance to get a Greater Rift Token. If you successfully do that, you’ll get a Greater Rift Key (Rank 2); if you clear that one, you get Rank 3, etc. Much like seasons, we’re going to have a leaderboard as well, so you can see who got to the highest tier Rift, and what time were they able to obtain on that.

Tiered Rifts are still in development, so there aren’t many additional details to share right now. We hope to provide more information in the coming weeks, though–so stay tuned!

Note: Since we experienced sound issues during the live recording, we don’t yet have a VOD to share. We hope to be able to resolve the sound issues first and are troubleshooting that right now. If can’t fix the audio, we’ll provide a full transcript and maybe even re-record the Q&A in our own studio and answer some extra questions when we do! Sincere apologies for the delay on that.

Om tiered rifts är D3's motsvarighet till D2's "ladders" så är dom bättre än D2's stegar. Ladders i D2 gjorde bara att man mer eller mindre skrotade figurer bara för att dom gjordes om till vanliga karaktärer när laddern nollställdes.

Här är en del nyheter om kommande sakerna i nästa stora patch.. Ladder season är väl något jag ser mest framemot =). Jag kan inte säga att jag så aktiv längre i D3, haft break nu 1 månad om inte mer.  Jag hoppas att de blir något nytt spännande i ladder season "Legendary gems låter spännade.

Tiered Rifts

Concept: Each Rift has a timer (15 minutes mentioned). Rifts get increasingly difficult up to the point where you can’t handle them anymore.
There will be Leaderboards for Tiered Rifts (Separate for HC/SC, Season/Non-Season, classes and group sizes)
Tiered Rifts will be used as a benchmark to measure class balance (solo capabilities, group synergy, high vs. low difficulty farming speed to be taken into account)
2.1 has been worked on for multiple months now. Tiered Rifts are working in the internal build, though some UI elemts are only prototyped.
Opening Tiered Rifts will require normal Rifts for a new type of key.
After clearing a Tiered Rift, the key for the next tier drops, allowing you to open it once.
Rewards for Tiered Rifts are still being worked on but they should be the most rewarding thing you can do on a certain diffictuly (Legendary Gems hinted on)
The speed of clearing a Tiered Rift will take part in determining how difficult the next one will be

Seasons

Season’s Leaderboards will probably be per class not per account.
Season length has not been decided on yet, they’ll likely not be uniform with the first season probably being rather long.
Later seasons might change the rules of the game around.
Season only items will be rolled into the droppable item pool in non-season games after the end of a season.
When a season ends, the loot and other benefits will carry over to the normal game
Players will be ranked per character and class
Each season will have new legendaries

Crafting

More Transmog options will be available in the next patch (Class sets, Class restricted items – their Transmog won’t appear for other classes though)
Treating crafting Mats like Currency and removing it from the stash is being discussed continuously.

    Unique crafting materials are no longer required  Patch 2.6 släpps idag.

          
Legendary crafting materials will no longer drop

          
Existing Legendary crafting materials will now be grey and have had their sell prices increased
      
Level 70 crafted sets and Legendary items with unique properties now require additional Death's Breath

      
Level 70 crafted Legendary items without unique properties have had their Death's Breath costs removed

  
Death's Breath is no longer required for most Artisan training costs


      
The Mystic no longer requires any Death's Breath to train

      
The Blacksmith and the Jeweler now only require 1 each to learn the first rank of level 11
